Smoked Salmon Sashimi

Chef Mel goes Japanese today! Konichiiwa!

What's the ingredients?

Smoked salmon

I personally prefer raw smoked salmon over normal salmon. Loves the smokey aroma!

Kikkoman Japanese Soy sauce

Japanese food taste soooo good with the original Japanese Soy Sauce. Don't be a cheap skate and get the Lee Kum Kee one to go with your Japanese food!! What more to say sashimi!

Wasabi

What's Japanese food without wasabi rite? Loves the chokey feeling! :P

Then you just slice the salmon , arrange them in a plate and before you eat , squeeze some lemon juice. Then you dip-dip into the soy sauce + wasabi !

Awesome meal. Ohhhh La La Babey!

Birthday Lunch

*Photos are taken with SE K610i

Today , i met up with Abang Samson, Mohd. Josiah and Siti Jessica at Pizza Hut for lunch. It was actually a late birthday meal for Siti Jessica.

Why we chose Pizza Hut?

Coz i have this. :) A book of 25 % of various ala carte orders for KFC and Pizza Hut. Hehe.

What did we ordered?

One large Pan Crust Hawaiian Supreme

Honestly , i am not a fan of the pizza in Pizza Hut. I always think pizza hut's pizza are a modified version to cater malaysian's tongue. Like i always said to my friends , i only go there when i have free coupons!
Surprisingly , this pizza taste good? Everything w
as perfect. I have nothing to complaint about.

Spicy Arabiatta Spaghetti

It was supposedly sea-shell pasta. I do not know why it turn out to be spaghetti? This one taste pretty bad. It has the smell of Indian Lime Acar and i'm not very fond of that aroma. It's a little spicy.. or rather mild. Not syiok!
Ratings : 5/10

Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings

The chicken wings in pizza hut are pretty expensif . RM 2.40 for a TINY chicken wing? I used to be a fan of their chicken wings .. but the one i had today was rather dry.. and tasteless. I think thei
r deli wings taste better! :P

Garlic Bread

This is Siti Jessica's favourite. I do not know why she like it coz i kinda think they have the worst garlic bread in town. hehe. And the one we had today was.. too black? so it's quite bitter. hehe. I just didn't like their soggy garlic bread. they're using the garlic butter spray btw. :P
Ratings : 6/10

Ice Blended Capucino Freeze

This one is just.. ermm.. drink-able. Not bad. But , there's no whipped cream? :( I Saw in their menu that if you want whipped cream you have to add RM 1. what the?
Ratings : 6/10

Mango Tango

This is mango yoghurt smoothies and i'm a fan of fruit yoghurt smoothies. I had it before during my previous visit to pizza hut. This is Siti Jessica's order by the way. Pretty good. I would recommend this over the capucino freeze.

I find it shameful for Pizza Hut to charge us for their service. OH, C'mon~ How good is their service? I asked for tabasco sauce the lady totally forgotten about it and later i asked Abang Sam to ask for it and they came with TOMATO sauce! Then i asked for tissue , the lady forgotten about it again. It was quite stuffy and hot inside too that we had to ask them if they on the air cond.
Pizza Hut should really improve their service man!

Anyway , it was a good meeting up with Abang Samson and Mohd.Josiah and ofcuz Siti Jessica! We laughed so much that i think the other tables think we're crazy!Too bad Dayang Stefanie is not with us!

Credits to Siti Jessica for paying!

Unforgetable

It hit me hard each time i see the pictures,

We may be off different background,

We may speak a total different langguage,

But ,

We share one thing.

A friendship. A sincere friendship.

I miss the together-ness.

I miss the times we use to laugh away even tho' exams near.

I miss the times we use to just talk and talk.

I miss the times we use to plan for each other's birthday.

Man , How could i forgot Shabby's face on the cake?

Most of all , how could i forgot my wonderful birthday ?

How could i forgot Tze Loong's drunken act? (the kiss...hehe:P)

I miss argueing with the teachers.

Especially , Mdm Iris.

Damn that pain in the ass teacher.

I miss the "cepat!cepat!cepat!" teacher. Hell lot!

Not to forget ,

The many self-plan parties!

Ahhh..Believe me , i'll give up anything for this .

It was the time of my life.

With Love ,

Melanie.

Pancake for the dummies

What you need ?

Betty Crocker Pancake Mix (Buttermilk flavour)

Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter and Capilano Pure Australian Honey (My Fav! )

How?

Take 4 table spoon of the pancake mix and put a lil water till it form this consistency.

Then just pour on the waffle maker. (I'm using a waffle maker coz it's much easier but,If you don't have a waffle maker , just use the non-stick pan. Wok is NOT advisable.)

Close the waffle-maker. Wait for 2 minutes.

Then wah-la-la. DONE! Pour generous amount of Honey and a good nob of Peanut butter :)

It takes less than 5 minutes to prepare this. Good for a quick and nutritious breakfast.

Best of all, Kanak-Kanak Tadika pun boleh buat!

Turtle Eggs

*** Malaysian Authorities : I know this is illegal. I AM NOT encouraging people to eat turtle eggs alright? Please don't sue me , cause i have no money to hire a lawyer. Please sue the person who sold this to me. Thank You :)

Turtle Eggs look like Ping pong aye..

How to cook it?
Just boil it macam you boil the normal chicken eggs. It cooks much faster than the chicken eggs tho.

Then,You have to "tear" the "shell" ...before you makan -lah. The "shell" is paper-like. Macam Double A paper. heh! jk :P

A closer shot on how it looks like .. very bendalir-ish.

Put a bit of soy sauce .. then wah la la.. makan it.

The taste?

Honestly , i don't like it-lah. Quite gross. hehe.

** Readers , i know the quality of my pictures is a lil pain in d ass. Forgive me because currently im only working with two 2.mp handphone cameras while im waiting for good stuff coming on its way.

Swan Teem

It was just an ordinary dinner outside , my dad decided to bring us to this new place "endorsed" by The chef from Ah Ka Su. (Ah Ka Su is popular for their roasted pig and salted marinated kampung chicken).. Apparently the chef decided to show his talent in a new place.Situated just opposite "The Venue" in RH Plaza.

Like i said , it was just an ordinary dinner. No special dates.. no nothing . Thinking it's just another normal place, i wore a crumbled t-shirt with a normal shorts. Upon arrival..i was a bit shocked to see it's a "5-star" restaurant... and everyone was nicely dress! My sis said i look like a maid! haha!

The place is comfortably-spacious and well air-conditioned. It has air conds in every 50 m? and the place is rather huge. Oh i got to eat with Tony Fernandez too. NOT! This Chinese man couldn't stop blabbing about Air Asia with his friends... the whole time i was there. I feel like walking to him and ask if he was paid by Air Asia.

The peanuts was good. And mind you , im not a peanut fan.

Ok, back to the food...

What i had ?

Roasted Piglet ( The restaurant named it Lucky Beijing Barbeque pig)

Everyone loves roasted piglets! haha! It's my favourite food! For those of you who never tried this.. pity you.. since roasted piglets are like shark fin in the chinese community. One Lil plate of this cost RM 40.
The roasted pig is just above average. I still love the one from Anchor House even though it's a lil more costly. Oh btw , i heard the piglets are imported from China. A turn off statement.. We all know China's food are not trust-able. But i guess they must be save to eaten since it's quite difficult to get through the Malaysian Authorities when it comes to non-halal stuffs. Ratings : 8/10

Salted Marinated Kampung Chicken

This one is cooked with sea salt ( a larger "molecules" salt) wrapped in aluminium foil. Honestly , i am not a fan of kampung chicken.. coz they're rather more rubber-rish. Yes , there is difference between kampung chix! But OMG, this one is soooo tender!!! SO GOOD!
Ratings : 10/10

Asparagus fried with Pacific Clams

Asparagus is one of the "edible" vege in "my-food-dictionary". Their asparagus is so well -cooked! the taste is just right.. ah! Perfect 10 babeh! If you're wondering what pacific clams are ... they're the one in a small can costing around RM 25. I Think in mandarin they call it "bao bei". so funny.. bao bei = baby. It's like .. "hey , i ate asparagus fried with a baby!" LOL !!! Ratings : 10/10

Stir-Fry live frog

What?Frog ar?Yes la! Frog is edible ok? It taste so good :P Good . good :P
Ratings : 10/10

Fried Tang Hoon

The glass noodle is fried with onion, carrots, bean sprouts, prawn and fish. The prawn was OMG so fresh! And what makes this dish different.. was the fish was deep-fried. This one is not bad and i have no complaints about it. Ratings : 7/10

Somehow.. i think it's weird how such high standard restaurant have Scooby-doo tissue box? It's like as if you stay in Hilton and they have powerpuff bedsheet ? hehe.

It's been a while since i last ate a really good chinese food ever since Crystal Jade close down. The bill came up to RM140. It was worth every single cent. Lok Thian can kiss their ass. Lok Thian food sucks! Cheap stuff!

Anyway my dad booked a VIP room there, so,I'm goin there again next Sunday... !

Happy Birthday To Jess and Misha Kewtie!

MY MISHA ! :p

and to Jessica~! happy birthday yo!

No pics of Jess coz she requested not to show her pic on my blog. (HAHAHA. Actually i cant find any of her pic in my comp. LOL)

Laksa Frenzy!

Exactly 3 months ago , i said i will make a survey on where is the best laksa in kuching right?

I never did promised the readers but hey, i did a survey myself on various places in Kuching. Yes , u heard it . Myself. I must say it's hard to differentiate when i was editing photos since there's so many pictures of laksa. :P

Here's a review of the places i went. Most of them are the popular ones while some of it are my personal favourites that are not popular. (the underdogs we call it)

Chong Choon Cafe

This is one of the most popular one in Kuching. They are widely publicised.. and even came out on tv. They even claimed that they boil the soup for 12 hours. True or not? I dont know. The taste? In my opinion i would think their laksa has no "kick" and often they give me too lil belachan. Plus the belachan is not nice at all!i personally think they are overrated. Ratings : 6/10

Fat cat Tabuan Laru

Situated at the same row with J n J cafe. There's rumours saying that they take the soup from Chong Choon and later improvised it. I personally think it taste a lot better than the one in Chong Choon. Full of flavours. But both of them is similar in a sense they do not have the "original laksa smell" we sarawakians crave for.it's a lil curry-ish. But , they're laksa is good compared to many other places.
Ratings : 6.5/10

Syn Hyn Yung in Pending industrial area

The location is a lil hard to explain. It's the same row with Big Family Bakery. And nearby Johan shipping company.. This laksa has the original laksa taste i like. Full of flavours and the soup taste just nice. I juz have a lil problem with the vermicelli. It's often over-cooked.the prawn is fresh too. OH yea, this place is where our sarawakian lady-cum-male Jessie Chung 's mother have breakfast every morning. Her mother's crazy. TRUST ME! anyway , i wonder if Jessie Chung stil have a dick. haha!Ok, a lil out of topic. LOl. Ratings : 9/10

Golden Arch Laksa (the one inside -not facing the roundabout)

Again another overrated place.easily spotted coz there's plenty of cars there. If you know where is 3rd mile roundabout , you know where is this place. They're popular for the huge prawn in the laksa. I used to like their laksa when i was very young ... but right now i don't. They're laksa soup is SUPER THICK and is more like belachan soup? No laksa smell at all.and the vermicelli is FOREVER overcooked. Seriously their soup is too thick ... if you dont love ur arteries , you can just commit suicide here. OH!! i've herd they "recycle" their soup.. so if you're lucky you get to taste other ppl's saliva here oso! haha! Ratings : 1/10

Crowne Plaza Riverside Kuching

this one ... sucks. not even laksa. Dont know what shit is that.. friggin RM 18. kanasai! I dont even think it's worth to rate! _|_

Madam Tang's

Also very over rated.. situated somewhere in Petanak. Sucks. Too curry-ish. Don't understand this people . Like to modify laksa. End up taste like Curry. B-o-d-o-h! :P Ratings : 3/10

Ah yew Laksa

This is so good!!! THE BEST! they have one in sekama (the original place) and one in Bormill. They taste almost the same but i prefer the bormill one.the soup is very red.. and so appetizing! The man is generous when you ask for anything extra. Great one.So far it's the only spicy laksa i've tasted. Portion is little tho.. hence making it quite expensif. But the only one that can fulfill my lust for laksa! Ratings : 10/10

Hui sing laksa

The very original laksa. They taste like how laksa suppose to be.No curry smell. It's good ! oh yeah ..its cheap too! lots of egg and chix meat! :P It's situated juz right opposite the mini police station. Ratings : 10/10

Tabuan Jaya Opposite Sweet Memory

This is the only laksa in Kuching with sea cockles. (they have another stall in the thompson corner tabuan jaya).. the soup doesnt taste "right". No laksa smell.. but more to the indian spices. Not nice.Prawns and cockles not fresh at all. They have the BEST BELACHAN tho. Ratings : 5/10

Tabuan Jaya Siang Siang (next to 99 dimsum stall)

This is the only place where you can satisfy your lust for laksa at night. Pretty good. But the service is pain in d ass. Ratings : 6/10

Barret's Laksa

I think they spend more on publicity rather than earning from selling the laksa. haha! Not nice at all if it's to be compared to how they rave about it. Portion is pretty big tho~. And the service is good. they're frenly. they have a website btw.. selling the laksa paste. Not worth visiting..coz tak sedap! haha! Ratings : 5/10

Foody Goody Laksa

This one came out on tv as well. I herd they earn thousands a week! :P their laksa is rather different from others.. not as thick as others (in a gud way). and the spices smell pretty strong. (not the laksa smell).. soups kinda black (even tho it's not pictured above? )... Ratings : 6/10

Was the 5 days of waiting worth it?

I sure hope so!

cheers!
