Appeared on AirAsia 360 Magazine

I'm back from Bintulu! Sadly and Unfortunately. To be really honest, I miss the place. How soothing and calm it was as compared to the hustle bustle life of KL. But that'll be a story another day cause' I'm hitting the sack soon.

Anyway, as I mentioned in the previous post, I took the first flight out from KL to Bintulu and was really sleepy! Having to sleep only two hours, I was trying my level best to wait for the take off, a part of flying that I really love! So I flick through the magazine to stay awake. The first thing I saw when I open the mag (I have a habit of reading from the middle) was my name! haha

I submitted my comment via e-mail (got to know through fb) and yes, mine is featured! Even though they accidentally posted another person's picture, I'm still quite contented! hehe *syoks*

I'll blog about Bintulu when I have time.

P/s : It's such a good day today :)

Macaroons from Harrods

You know I've always secretly believe that I'm quite easy to please? No, not in terms of my sexual needs. ( I wouldn't be able to judge on that. *cough*) But more like, the route to my heart. I have sweet tooth and is absolutely a fan of desert. Bring me for desert and you get me smiling. :)

Latest obsession on my desert plate is non other than french macaroons! I love how it's so colorful, so detailed and so pretty!

I've been wanting to sample the macaroons from Harrods since .. err, I lay my eyes on these gems? hehe. I usually get the urge to try something when I read people waxing lyrical on it but to be honest, I never read about this one. Because well, it's Harrods! What could go wrong in Harrods? Lol. ( The rye bread there is really good too btw.)

I just got the chance to taste the macaroons a couple of days ago for a certain occassion but unfortunately after much anticipation, I wasn't swept off my feet. Hahah. Well, it tasted good and rich but I much prefer the one in InterContinenatal Hotel (previously Nikko Hotel) I find the one from Harrods a little too soft. It didn't fail to give me a good sugar rush tho'!

Yes, so buy me pretty macaroons or a slice of red velvet cake and you're hitting the G spot - figuratively of course ;p

xoxo *hearts*

Alternative? Not quite!

In case you're a virgin reader (as in first time reading my blog lah. hehe) here, I'm currently in Kuching, enjoying my holiday! :P

I'm quite a boring person in nature (and also a very poor student if I may add) so my holidays are not usually filled with excitement. You know like how some rich kids go for holidays here and there. ;p What I usually do is, buy a lot of magazines.

I read all sorts of magazine with TIME, Shape and Female being my favourites. No, i'm not gonna talk about the magazines of course! Just wanted to share with you a snippet of an article. Basically this article talks about how to have substitutes for Malaysian food. Not exactly something new to read but there's something I find interesting. ;p

Alternative for Nasi Lemak = Toast! I can't see the significance of the two. One is pungent, one is fragrant.

Alternative for Satay = Chee Cheong Fun! I'm not a fan of Chee Cheong Fun, but last I check, they don't come in sticks. ;p

My point is that when you lust for something sinful, never look for the substitutes. Go for the real thing, but eat in moderation la!

I'll give you an easier example ok. If you wanna drink beer, but because of the calories, you go for apple juice. Not the same kan?

Godiva Chocolate

Google for "Godiva" and you'll get endless pages of people waxing lyrical about this premium Belgium chocolate. Lucky for me, I had the chance taste it recently and here's my two cents about the chocolate.

Costing at RM20, it is certainly a steep price to pay for a small 4 inch bar chocolate. More so from a thin wallet of a student like me.

My verdict? I thought it was just edible, and really nothing to rave about. A typical overrated case.

My vote for the best chocolate goes to Marks and Spencer's. I've tried quite a range of it, and it never fails. ;)

Lily's Vegetarian Kitchen

The night before I arrive in Penang(which was a while ago), my friend texted me to ask what I would like for dinner. I replied, "Anything, something different!"

True enough, the dinner was indeed something different. Vegetarian food! *shrugs* It was my virgin experience eating a vegetarian dinner and I was quite excited even though I have been worshiping meat my whole life. Lol.

I am quite indecisive when it comes to eating and I particularly hate it when the waiter is standing beside me while I'm looking at the menu so I appreciate it a lot when restaurants have this paper "where you can tick what ever you want" and they'll just collect it when you signal them.

However, I didn't like the idea of us paying before getting our meal. In a way, I find myself less appreciated as a customer.

I had the beef steak. It tasted a lot like the beef patties we have in our Ramly burgers. Very much like eating a "naked burger". The gravy though, was a tad bland but since they have a restricted list of ingredients, this could be the best they can come up with.

The friend had chicken chop. Again, the "meat" taste very much like the burger patties. But I find both the chicken "meat" and gravy a little mild on the flavor. The beef steak is better.

My friend's other half had Bak Kut Teh. I was quite surprised it tasted almost identical to the real bak kut teh. Minus the meat. :P

The couple also ordered an extra chicken burger. I think it was a little miscommunication between the two and obviously they couldn't finish it and had to have it take away. Hehe.

What really peeved me (other than the payment part) was that our deserts are served at the same time as our meal. It's a little harsh but I find that rather stupid.

By the time we finish our food, there was already a pool of melted ice cream surrounding the sundae cup. Ish.

The almond jelly would have tasted a lot better if the ice didn't melt and made it fit for a diabetic patient.

The drinks was nothing much to write about. I was actually struggling to finish my drink as I was stuffed from the steak. Vegetarian food are all carb, remember? :)

Overall, I find eating in a vegetarian shop quite exciting. You anxiously take a bite when your food arrive and then gauge how close it taste to the "real thing." I wouldn't mind visiting another one (anytime!), but of course if I was given a choice, I'll definitely go for the real huge fat-squirting slab of steak. Medium rare please. :D

I know I hardly put pictures of myself nor my friends here, but this is a picture of my friend and her Mr.bf.

Thanks for the accomodation! Sorry, you had to be deprived from your "activities" for a week. hehe. :D

Krispy Kreme

After reading so much about Krispy Kreme on the Internet I swear to the moon, stars and sun that I must have a bite one day! So when the news of Berjaya bringing Krispy Kreme to Malaysia broke out, needless to say I was exhilarated.

I was a little dissapointed when they decided to open it in Times Square as it's a little time consuming for me to travel there from the airport (and then back to the airport again). I guess they heard me , and just few months later they open one in Midvalley! Halleluiah!

I have a little confession though. As excited as I was, the first time I was there I actually walk through it and told my sister I couldn't find it? Well, i was expecting long queues but it turns out the shop was rather empty.

The donuts choices weren't as extensive as Jco and Big Apples but at the same time, what ever they have(other than the original glazed) in Krispy Kreme are not available in both Jco and Big Apples.

It's a lot cheaper to get two dozens but since I am the only one eating and I am not blessed with a good metabolism rate to burn all the donuts later, I decided to just get a dozen. :p

Texture wise, Krispy Kreme's dough is fluffier and in a way, heavier. What I really like about Krispy Kreme's donuts is the ones that comes with toppings are not "wet" and even if you leave it for two days, it still stays fresh and "in shape". It's a total different case with Jco and Big Apples. Leave it for a few hours ,the donut will flattens and you just don't feel like eating it anymore.

The New York Cheesecake is the best amongst all the flavors. The creme filling was just so, so, so, so good. If I were to die tomorrow, i will have this as my last wish. And after that I will die happily and have no regrets. :D

Second to that is the Glazed Vanilla Cake. The thick glazed crust that coat the outer layer melts in your mouth and is a sure way to give a good sugar rush. Mmmm. Nom. Nom. Nom. Nom.

If you're a fan of Hershey's cookies and cream then this will be for you. I thought it was nothing spectacular though I have to give them credit on the generous amount of toppings.

Oh, did I say I bought an extra seat in Air Asia just to put my boxes of Krispy Kreme?

This is Krispy Kreme checking in, in LCCT- KLIA.

This is Krispy Kreme on the plane, with seat belt on. :)

How to have smoother skin

I don't know if you have heard the myth saying that eating fried chicken tail will make your skin smooth? Not too sure of the actual fact but it's quite understandable since chicken tail has quite a thick layer of fats. Animal fats has oil, so it kinda moisturize your skin. ;p

Contrary to popular belief, chicken tail is not where the chicken shit comes out. I don't know how to put it in better words, but chicken tail is like the butt cheek of the chicken. So it is absolutely clean and safe to eat. :)

It is not exactly cheap considering the fact that after you clean it (you have to throw the upper part of the tail), you are left with just a small piece of meat. But still RM 2.99 is a little compared to how much you invest on a good moisturizer. :P

Coat in a prepared thick batter of corn flour, oil and water after you have marinated them with pepper, salt and mono sodium glutamate.

It's nicer to have it deep fried but I did it the pan fry way. You'll need a lot of cooking oil for deep frying and I thought it'll be quite a waste since I am not frying any other things and I don't reuse my cooking oil. Although this may seem like a simple dish, but it can actually turn out to be a disgusting dish. You'll have to fry it thoroughly so that you'll get it nice and crispy.

Here you go. A basket of fried chicken tail! For those who have never tasted chicken tail, it's like any part of the chicken except more juicy :P It's good.

Most of all you can eat your way to a smoother skin!

Pink Color Rice

Organized a block gathering and had the food catered from the hostel's cafe. Ordered a few dishes and they were alright. Except for this particular PINK RICE! and NO, i didn't order it! I asked for fried rice, and they came in striking Pink Color! Apparently my friend told me they mixed with rose syrup and hence the color. Taste ? It was edible but i thought it was a tad weird with the rose fragrant.

Poslaju

One of the little things in life that made my day is receiving a package (or a letter for that matter). The excitement of opening a package is just priceless.

From someone wonderful , to someone wonderful. :D

I had no idea what's inside but the first thing I saw was a Tesco reusable plastic beg! From an environmental enthusiasts who claimed that I've been using too much plastic begs. :P

And then it's Ovaltine and my favourite golden bear biscuit, strawberry flavour! I know you must've thought why it's Ovaltine, not Milo ? Well, Jess read it somewhere that Ovaltine improves your short-term memory. It doesn't work with other chocolate malt drink though.

Even with the advancement in technology, I think nothing beats receiving a snail mail or a package. It's just different. ;p

Start sending me things now! :)

Whatever and Anything

X : What do you wanna drink? I'll get it for you.
Y : Whatever lah!

X : Darling, what do you wanna drink?
Y : Anything.

These conversation sounds familiar right? The creative minds of Singaporeans came out with canned drinks that the consumers don't know what flavours of drinks is actually inside.

However each can is limited to a few scope.

For whatever, it could be either ice lemon tea, peach tea, apple tea, jasmine tea, white grape tea or chrysanthemum tea. Mine was peach tea and it has been my fav drink so literally i'm happy!

While for anything it could be either apple, cola, root beer or orange. I had the orange one. I'm not a fan of orange so i'm not happy! wish it was root beer or cola!

The whatever is not carbonated while the anything is carbonated. Each can is priced at RM 1.90 and available in participating 7-Eleven outlets. ;p

The weirdest Baguette

This is gonna be a short post :P I'm blogging from Kaya and Toast and it's starting to get really pack with smokers. I don't wanna die early!

I had Garlic Butter plus Kaya Baguette when i was in KL.

I find the combination really weird but it turns out to be really nice ;p

From Deli France. You can find it easily in Peninsular.
