Double White Button Lamb Burger with Italian Rocket Salad

I've been cooking quite a lot lately. Maybe cause work has settled in a little bit for me - can't deny that I still suck. lol. Complicated dishes are however very much restricted to only weekends. Not only because of time constraint, but they're quite expensive to cook =x

Ingredients are :

Darabif 4 x 100g Lamb Patties (RM9.98) and Heinz Mushroom Soup (RM 5.80)

Burger Roll (RM 2.20) and Heinz Sandwich Spread (RM 6.80).

Canola Spread *healthy mode* (RM4.60 fr six small tub)

Fresh white button mushrooms (RM 5.99)

This recipe is quite easy to prepare and it takes no more than 30 minutes since everything is literally "processed." First, pan fry the patties and once they're cook, put a slice of cheese over and let it melt on the patties and sandwich two patties together.

Put them aside and prepare the mushroom sauce. Heat up half the can of the mushroom soup together with the fresh sliced button mushrooms. Cook till they thicken up!

Then it's time to scoop them up and "spread" them on your patties. oh yeah, don't forget to toast your burger rolls with the canola oil!

In my effort to stay healthy, I've also added in the rocket salad. I got them pre-packed in a bowl with all the leaves and balsamic dressing. This thing are genius! All you need to do is tossed everything in the bowl and they even come with fork and spoon!

Serve the tossed salad with your burger. It's extremely filling and satisfying! Goes really well with a good pint of lager.

Can't wait for the weekends cause I've already got idea on what to cook! I've been having so much maggi, eggs and sausages. Food that makes me feel bimbotic. lol

Burger King's Comfort

I know most people go for the burgers when they're in Burger King. Yes, the whoppers are awesome and the mushroom swirl is my ultimate favorite! But what people are not aware of is that beneath the great burgers varieties, they also offer pleasurable (*ahem*) comfort foods!

The Mozarella Cheese sticks are fried and extremely sinful. Ah well, what food are there that gives us orgasm without having us committing any sin? ;p It's best eaten hot, when it's all gooey inside and crunchy outside. Slightly salty tho' so you might want to just order one servings even tho' it comes in only three sticks.

Another "diamond" that is hidden beneath the extensive burger menu is the Hershey's pie. It's extremely chocolaty and rich. I really, really love it. It's one of the food that I would describe as "food that makes me go to heaven for a visit." :)

Anyway, i'm writing this because I really need comfort food now. I'm mourning for my Great Dane who has been with my family for coming 9 years (this 13 June) and left us this morning around 5a.m. R.I.P Bruno. It's gonna be very different without you for sure.

Chili's G Hotel

I was in Penang two weekends back for a brief shopping trip and Gurney was my first stop. First thing first was some "battery-charging" in Chili's!

Both me and my friend weren't particularly starving, so we didn't ordered anything individually.

We had the bottomless tortilla chips as our starters (more like side actually, since we're not having a full course meal). It's much more worth it to order this when you're in big group. For a company of two, the portion for one serving is more than enough.

The salsa complements the tortilla chips well. Slightly sourish with a spicy end. Me like!

We also had the Old Timer's burger with Chili beef as an add on. It costed about RM20 (without tax) and this is probably the cheapest entree you can find in the entire menu.

I requested for it to be medium rare, but I find it a bit too cook for my liking. The beef pattie was too dry and lack a lot in terms of flavors. If it wasn't for the chili beef that we add on, the whole burger is pretty much tasteless. I was also not satisfied with the gherkins used - too soft. Long story short, don't order this.

For drinks I had the Banana Smoothie. It was thick, rich and good. (Somehow I find my description rather erotic - if you know what I mean. lol).

My friend on the other hand had the bottomless Orange Juice. We were suppose to share (refillable), but I decided to order a drink for myself last minute since we already share the tortilla chips and burger and I didn't want to look like a cheapskate. :P

The entire meal costed us close to RM 60 inclusive of tax. I think the tax was about RM 8 (!!). Rather reasonable if you ask me (though not cheap) considering the American portion. (Not exactly pictured here but trust me, pictures can be deceiving. ;p )

And.. it's either my appetite has shrunk and I'm less a glutton now or the portion was really huge cause I actually had a hard time finishing the burger even though I shared it with my friend!

A & W Gurney Plaza

Out of the many restaurants in Gurney, I don't know what crossed my mind when I decided to have A & W instead.

It was the first day of Ed Mubarak and instead of being greeted with joyous Raya spirit, we were treated by a cashier with a grumpy moody look. What's even more was the manager was also very grumpy looking. Fine I thought. Just give me my food!

I wanted something different so I ordered the Double Mozza Burger. It was nothing special, double beef patties with cheese and a piece of an extremely dry beef bacon. The bacon was so dry it almost felt like they have left it under the hot sun to dry it up!

My friend went for the safer option. The coney dog. Doesn't look so impressive too eh? What's with the minimal amount of toppings?

It is cheaper to order in set but we did in ala carte for one sole reason - the curly fries. The set came with the shoe string fries and we wanted the curly fries and are willing to pay more for it. But what we got was soggy and extremely oily curly fries! geez!

Ok, all the food were disastrously disappointing, the root beer can't go wrong right? But it did! :( It was so diluted that it was almost tasteless. Sigh!

A & W , LOUSIER than the usual!

High 5 Cream Roll Bandung Flavor!

I have stop eating High 5 buns for a while now but this particular particular High 5 bun caught my attention when I was at the cafeteria getting a pack of teh ais. Bandung flavor bun!

I am not actually a fan of the rose syrup but the bandung cream actually taste quite good. In fact, all High 5 buns taste quite decent. It's just that they have problem with the generosity of the filling - the sole reason why I stop buying High 5 buns.

I wanted to write pink on the inside but I think it sounds quite wrong. If you know what I mean. ;p

A pronto breakfast

I love cooking from scratch but a little part of me still love the food from Chef Boyardee era. Especially on days when I wake up feeling lazy and want something quick.

Nothing can wrong with sausages! Kids love it, Adults love it too! ;p

It's not obligatory to have burger buns to go along with your patties. You can eat it just like that!

Put both in the oven or pan fry it. The former is a lot healthier!

Baked beans is my all time favourite food. The one by Heinz is a lot better than the locally produced ones.

While the sausages and patties are in the oven , prepare the half boil egg.

It's not exactly an ultimate breakfast since it's fast food (except for the half boil egg) and it contains lots of trans fat. But once in a while, i reckon it wont hurt much. ;p

Nando's

During one of my brief visit to KL, i've had the chance of eating Nando's. I haven't had it for a long time and it was rather nostalgic for me because i used to like it a lot when I was young. Back then not much people have heard of Nando's yet.

The franchise owner is actually a lady. She brought her father to Nando's when her dad was visiting her when she was still in university. Her dad liked Nando's a lot and asked her if she wants to open in Malaysia.

The interior hasn't change a bit. I'm referring to the one in Mid Valley. It was exactly the same as it was many years back.

I was there alone and they led me inside to a two seater table.( I was in KL for just seven hours. I wanted to get some imported groceries- the ones that might not be available in my hometown so I just stopped by Mid Valley).

The signature sauce. I finished at least half a bottle of the extra spicy one. It takes a while for the spicyness to kick in and as much as I don't want to sound ego here, the extra spicy isn't that spicy. ;p

I ordered the quarter set and it comes with two sides of my choice. I chose to have fresco salad and traditional cut fries. The portion looked small but it was quite filling. I couldn't even finish the fries!

For my drink, I went for the house specialty. It was a concotion of apple juice, sprite, 100 plus and lemon. A refreshing combination.

** Sorry for the lack of updates. Too tied up with deadlines the whole week. I just finish my last assignment in the evening, so look forward for more updates!

A & W

The first time I had it was when I was really little in KL. It was a big thing because they didn't have it in Kuching yet. Fast forward many years later, it opened two branches in Kuching. But, in less than five years, both branches closed down.

They have rather limited branches and thus I never had it again until many years later when i stumbled upon a branch in Alamanda, Putrajaya.and then 2 years later in Leisure Mall, Cheras.

Coney Dog

I think A & W is the only place in Malaysia that can come out with coney dogs that has a local taste. Most places like, 1901 for instance are serve the traditional Western version with the gherkins, mustards and all.

Curly Fries

I love their curly fries better than McDonalds.Somehow McD's is a bit too salty for my liking and they tend to over-fry it.

Root Beer Float

The huge glass of root beer and vanilla ice cream never fail to make me happy. Perfect combination. :)

I wish I can have it now. :( Extremely stress at the moment. Five exams, three days continously. I can't breathe.

Mc Donalds Breakfast

I had a depressing night in LCC-T recently. I overnight there because I couldn't make it for the last flight back to Kuching so i had to take the first flight the next morning. Anyway, before my flight, i had breakfast in McD's (not that there's many choice after all).

While everyone had the boring Mc Muffin and tasteless omelette, like always I went for the Hot Cakes. The pancakes is nothing to shout but it's the best on McDonald's breakfast menu.

It came with a small tub of butter and maple syrup. If you're sweet tooth like me,you can ask for an extra tub of maple syrup.

I also went for a cup of premium roast coffee. It is priced at RM 3.80, which I thought was slightly overpriced. The regular one goes for RM 4 ++ but there's no point of ordering that cause they provide free refills.

It has a nice strong aroma but it didn't help to keep me awake. I was asleep before the plane took off.

Holland Fries

Jess told me she had been wanting to try this place for quite some time and i agreed to accompany her. So, after six hours of shopping, we got tired and i suggested that we take a short break and came here. Holland fries is a place where you can have the normal fries along with funky toppings.

I was quite excited even with the emptiness of the shop since i've been wanting to try something similar for quite some time. I just didn't know the place existed.

I guess their main market is for take aways since there's only four chairs.

They actually had many varieties of toppings on the menu but on the day we went , only three out of the many are available. Kinda disappointed :( Price range are from RM 3.90 to RM 5.90.

I cant remember the names actually but this is what i had ;

This is actually tomato based sauce with basil leaves and italian seasoning, kinda like bolognese. It tasted alright, but a bit too watery.

This is sour cream one. I know what you are thinking! The cream looks wrong right ? (If it rings no bell to you, the sour cream looks like something that comes from the other end of you ;p ) I did noticed it when it was served but i didn't wanna spoil Jess' mood since she paid for it. Hehe. Sour cream wasn't sour. :(

The only credit to this shop is that, they used imported fries. Imported fries are usually better because hey, Americans are good in fast food and usually their fries tastes better, bigger and less healthy ;p

Holland Fries is located at Queensbay Mall, right at the side of the cineplex. It will be good to eat with at the movies rather than the boring popcorn ;p Don't say i recommend one though. Hehe.
