Koreana Restaurant (Revisit)

For Christmas Day, I went for dinner with my mum because my dad had to attend a wedding dinner. (Personally i find people having their big day during festivals are a bit selfish.)

We were quite undecided on where to go since most places will be serving Christmas set. More than often these Christmas set will be overpriced and taste awfully bad. After contemplating for more than an hour, we finally decided on Korean food.We went to Koreana in Premier 101. ( Anyone know if the one in Hilton is still operating?)

I've always love how in Korean restaurant they'll give you plates of appetizers in small portion. I don't know if it does magic on you guys, but it does boost my appetite. (which is good for them too.Talking about win-win situation.)

The kim chi used to taste so good but now it was so mild that it almost taste nothing but a "wet" cabbage. The rest of the appetizers are nothing to shout tho coz they taste almost the same.

and another hairy vege that didn't manage to be in the frame.

You get this vege in every Korean restaurant. I have yet to figure out the name tho.

Kim Chi Soup

I really like their kim chi soup a lot in my previous visit but this time, it was really disappointing. It tasted a lot like assam fish hence a tad of foul fishy smell and lack in the kim chi taste.

Stir-fry squid

Squid stir-fried with kim-chi that is. A bit too sweet. The squid's fresh tho.

Fried Tang
Hoon

They use the thicker version of tang hoon but this dish comes in too oily for my liking. It tasted good nevertheless and probably one of the few dish in the menu that is without kim chi.

Hot Korean Tea

Not recommended.

Ice Lemon Tea

Recommended!

The bill came up to a total of RM 70.50. :) Oh yeah, i also met Ting Pek Khiing there. For West Malaysians who don't know who he is, he is the one who build the Kuching International Airport, Miri International Airport and if i'm not mistaken the one in Kota Kinabalu too.

I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all my readers a blessed and fruitful new year.

Seoul Garden

So.. there's one fine night that my mum asked me to accompany her to have dinner here. She's a fan of korean food btw. I've visited this place several times .. but after i left for Uni, my times in Kuching are pretty much spend stuffing myself with local food and the size of the shop shrinked as well... however, they opened a stall in Boulevard's food court recently.

If you were a regular of my blog, you know that i blogged about this place before.. too lazy to link. =p.. and the names are simply too complicated.. so i don't have the names of the food.

The ever so popular rice..

To be 'stir' with the sauce below. Very very nice la!

Kim Chi Pork

This one taste normal.. came along with the white rice below.

Rice

I like the rice.. There's something special about it!

The side dishes...

Kim Chi

The Kim Chi here taste better than the one in Koreana.

Bak Choy

This look rather sad rite? Hahaha!

Seaweed Soup

Nice!

Tempura Egg Tofu

A bit sweet. Don't like it.

Bean Sprout with sesame seeds.

Not nice lah. Over-cooked!

Sushi-s and Tempura-s.

Mandarin Orange

Barley Tea

Taste rather weird.. Don't order. Hehe.

Wah.. Just realised this was a pretty long post! ;p Enjoy!

Koreana Restaurant

There's this hidden Korean restaurant situated along side with Scoops ( That lousy and gelato place that people has been raving ). Never knew the existence until one day i told Vero i wanted to have Korean food and she suggested this place. Momoyama at the old Upwell is of the same owner.

The architecture is simple and neat.

The menu also damn attractive.

Just that it has a lot of spelling mistakes!

There were wide varieties for us to pick and we had a hard time deciding what to order. After about 20 minutes flipping the menu again and again, we finally decided to have :

Kim Chi Fried Rice RM 10

It taste ok but I was expecting a much more strong Kim Chi Flavour but it was just mild. Portion was nice tho, not too much.

Kim Chi Cui Gui RM 25

If you pronounce it in Hokkien, it sounds like Kim Chi "water ghost". LOL. Anyway , this is kim chi soup and it's really good! Not too spicy yet when u sip it , it gives you the spicy zest!

Oh Jingho Bokum ( I'm not so sure of the name )
RM 25

Incase i got the name wrongly, it's fried squid. The portion was generous for the price you pay. Just RM 25 for a full plate of fresh squids. Very worth it. They taste really good too. Well flavoured and not over-cooked.

The side dish that came along ...
( Sorry but i don't know the specific name )

Kim Chi

The most well-known Korean food. Made out of fermented cabbage ( or any other vege) mixed with spices and seasonings. The one they have here is pretty good , but not well-seasoned (yet).

Another seasoned cabbage

Tasted like cabbage in blended chilli.

Jelly fish

Not bad lah this one.Edible.

Clams

This one damn nice! I love clams and its even better that i went with two friends who don't like clams. LOL.

Anchovies + Green Chillies + Huge Garlic

I didn't try this one. I don't take anchovies.. and i don't take huge garlics either.

The fruit salad

Don't know why i find it a bit wrong. Does Koreans really have this?

Our drinks

Ice Lemon Tea RM 3.00

Ice Green Tea RM 3.50

Japanese Green tea wins hands down!

The place seems very hidden but there's really quite a big number of customers in there. I don't mind visiting the place again. A quiet and peaceful place. Thumbs up!
